REPORT ON BATHING AREAS

The water quality monitoring system provided by ARPA Abruzzo ensures the safety of swimmers by evaluating the quality of sea and lake waters throughout the summer season.

The Agency periodically carries out sampling and analysis to check for the presence of bacterial indicators of health and hygiene risk, in compliance with the limits established by the current regulations (Legislative Decree 116/08 and Ministerial Decree 30/03/2010). The data collected are promptly communicated to the local mayors, to the competent health authorities for the issuing of bathing bans and water quality restoration notices and to the Ministry of Health.

ARPA uses a network of representative sampling points, defined by the Abruzzo Region, which classifies bathing waters before the start of the summer season. This classification determines whether or not certain areas are suitable for bathing.

In the map below, the sampling points are highlighted, with green and red icons indicating whether the beaches are safe for bathing according to the latest report.
