SUSTAINABLE MOUNTAIN
The “Sustainable Mountain” project develops the actions identified within the framework of “Inclusive Mountain”, the plan of the Abruzzo Region aimed at countering the progressive depopulation and growing socio-economic marginalisation of inland areas through the adoption of an integrated approach oriented at local promotion and development.
A governance model that can promote socio-economic development and increase the level of well-being of mountain communities, enhancing the wealth of their cultural and natural heritage and restoring their competitiveness.
The following areas have been identified as the main targets of the strategic measures to be taken:
- MONTI DELLA LAGA and MONTI GEMELLI: Torricella Sicura, Cortino, Rocca Santa Maria, Valle Castellana, Campli;
- ALTA VALLE DEL VOMANO: Montorio al Vomano, Crognaleto, Pietracamela, Fano Adriano;
- GRAN SASSO/ VALLE SICILIANA: Castelli, Castel Castagna, Colledara; Tossicia.
The project also includes the municipalities of Isola del Gran Sasso (included within the Valle Siciliana), Basciano, Penna Sant’Andrea, Canzano and Cermignano, Castellalto, Cellino Attanasio (part of the “Colline del Medio Vomano” Union of Municipalities).
