THE PROJECT
“Abruzzo, Regione del benessere” (Abruzzo, a land of well-being) is the multidisciplinary project of the Abruzzo Region aimed at improving the quality of life of local communities through the awarding of a recognition label that follows specific disciplinary standards.
The aim of the project, implemented by ARPA Abruzzo – the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection, is to promote a tourism model that can be used as a best practice at national and international level. An approach oriented towards wellbeing and based on experientiality, the enhancement of typical regional naturalistic and historical-cultural features, and the redevelopment of areas at risk of economic and demographic marginality.
“Abruzzo Regione del Benessere” is the tool through which incentives are given to Abruzzo hotels, extra-hotels and restaurant activities that, in their management, show care for the environment and the quality of service and succeed in valorising the specificities and natural beauties of the territory, in order to characterise their tourist-accommodation offer in a sustainable way.
In particular, the quality label rewards those activities which use solutions to guarantee the well-being of their guests through
– the removal of architectural barriers
– attention to the periodic maintenance of facilities and equipment
– the adoption of energy efficiency systems
– the reduction of methane, electricity and water consumption
– the proposal of meals with typical local and organic products
– the use of low-fat cooking methods
Rewarding requirements also include the presence of duly trained staff with a good knowledge of English, able to provide an empathetic and professional welcome, aimed at spreading knowledge of the well-being, culture, traditions and beauty that the area offers.
